Our client is a condominium-owned marina and organization with a resort and recreational marina environment. Located in the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay, they of easy access to major metropolitan areas such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Wilmington. Offering slips for more than 300 boats, this resort marina offers an Olympic-size swimming pool overlooking the river, a lounge with a swap library, a "nettle-free" beach area, a playground, and a ship store.
This marina is searching for a full-time Dock Master. Reporting to the General Marina Manager, the Dock Master assists with all aspects of the Marina operation to ensure the smooth, efficient and professional operation of the Marina Facilities, the Marina Slips, the Marina Store and Marina Fuel Dock to achieve maximum occupancy and revenue, while providing the highest possible level of customer service.
Due to the nature of the marina business, this full-time position works afternoons, evenings, and weekends during peak season, Memorial Day - Labor Day.
Key Responsibilities
- All facets of the Marina's Fuel Dock and Ships Store Operations, including daily reporting requirements, reconciliation of sales receipts, maintaining proper inventories, keeping fueling and pump-out equipment in operational order, maintaining proper staffing, and scheduling shifts to cover operating hours. Create & maintain all mandated compliance requirements and corresponding records.
- Daily inspection of docks, grounds, buildings and amenities to ensure safety and compliance with all marina rules, regulations and policies.
- Day-to-day facilities maintenance, including installation of de-icing systems, activation & deactivation of dockside freshwater service, restroom cleaning, grounds maintenance, including lawn care, Cable TV & Wifi system operations. Cleaning and maintenance staffing and schedules.
- Swimming pool operations including seasonal opening, closing & lifeguard schedules.
- Assists General Manager with the preparation of the yearly budget and forecast.
- Work with ownership/member/guest event coordinators to ensure positive event results.
- Maintain slip/mooring/dinghy rack/jet ski dock rental rosters
- Schedule & welcome guest yachtsmen and visiting boating clubs
- Assist General Manager with all record keeping & compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
- Work a Manager-on-Duty shift on a rotating basis per the MOD schedule.
- Take the necessary precautions to safeguard--at all times--the Marina funds and/or receipts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months - 1 year customer service experience
- Recreational boating or marina experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in hospitality or business management, 3-5 years of experience in place of degree
- Property management experience
- Excellent communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift: 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs regularly
