Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced, motivated and dynamic Service Manager to lead the service department supporting new boat sales and service customers. This role requires a proven leader who shares our commitment to excellence and can maintain the exceptional standards that have made our client a trusted name in the boating industry for nearly five decades. The ideal candidate will possess both technical expertise and strong leadership skills to manage our skilled technicians while ensuring every customer receives the quality service that defines our reputation.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled marine technicians and service advisors
- Provide ongoing training, and foster professional growth
- Schedule and coordinate technician workloads to maximize productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Maintain weekly flat rate logs for payroll
Service & Operations Management
- Manage new boat rigging, comprehensive pre-delivery inspections encompassing boat and engine (outboard, I/O)
- Oversee all service department operations from routine maintenance to major repairs and repowers
- Maintain route sheet and service schedule
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards
- Manage warranty claims, technical bulletins, and manufacturer relationships
- Maintain strong interdepartmental communication to ensure timely completion of projects and jobs
- Manage marina operations and maintenance including slip rentals, pier and boat lift maintenance, etc.
- Manage shop & facility organization and maintenance
- Full compliance of company policies and safety standards
- Manage and maintain AP and AR timelines
Customer Service Excellence
- Maintain exceptional customer relationships and resolve service concerns promptly
- Handle escalated customer concerns with professionalism and effective solutions
- Provide accurate service estimates and clearly communicate repair processes
- Ensure customer boats are returned in pristine condition and on schedule
- Maintain CSI levels based on established metrics
- Maintain consistent communication with customers proactively providing updates and follow up in a timely manner
- Proper use and accuracy of CRM
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 - 5 years marine service management experience
- Strong background in marine outboard engine repair
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with CRM systems
